of the Second Scientific Conference of the Global Cassava Partnership for the 21st Century (GCP21-II)

The field excursions for the forthcoming GCP21-II 2012 in Kampala Uganda will be held on June 20th. The excursion will involve visits to farmers’ fields in the morning and an on station tour of NaCRRI research activities in the afternoon.

Sign up for the Field Trip Day on Monday, June 18 and Tuesday, June 19 until 4 pm by the Registration Desk.

Participants will leave the Speke hotel in buses at 8:00 am for visits to farmers’ fields, expected to last about four hours. Thereafter, all participants will assemble at the NaCRRI at around 12 pm. While in the fields, delegates will have the opportunity to see and share with farmers the typical challenges in cassava production in Uganda, including but not limited to cassava brown streak disease (CBSD), cassava mosaic disease (CMD) and an avalanche of whiteflies which have attained pest status besides being a vector of the dual viral diseases of CBSD and CMD.
