Volunteer for the Danforth Center
No matter what your age or interests, your skills or schedule, you can help the Danforth Center in its global mission. Volunteering at the Danforth Center is a great way to expand your knowledge of plant science and its impact on our region and world, give back to your community, meet new people, and share your love of the Center with others.

What You Should Know
If you think you'd like to volunteer at the Danforth Center, you should know that:

  • You don't need to have a green thumb or a plant science background!
  • Volunteers range in age from 16 to 80+.
  • You'll receive training specific to your assignment.
  • Volunteer opportunities are available year-round, primarily during weekdays, in a variety of areas.
  • You can help out once a week to once a month.

How You Can Help
These are just some of the ways volunteers contribute to the Danforth Center:

  • Introducing people to the wonders of plant science by leading a tour (supported by educational messages provided on kiosks)
  • Greeting and providing information to visitors as they enter the Center for special events
  • Assisting departments like the Office of Development and Public Relations with their many clerical duties

There are also many volunteer opportunities at our larger scale, annual public outreach event.
